| The company started building jeeps for the American army at its facilities. |
1967 | The Company becomes the first Korean bus exporter and enters into a partnership with Shinjin Jeep Motor Co. Ltd. |
1974 | The company becomes co-owner of Shinjin Jeep Motor Co, and undertakes development of off-road cars. |
1976 | Special-purpose vehicles are launched. |
1977 | The Company changes it name becoming Donga-A Motor. |
1977 | Ha Dong-hwan Motor Co. Ltd renamed Donga Motor Co., Ltd. Diesel engine models are developed. |
1979 | A new plant in Pyungtaek constructed. |
1980 | Donga Motor Co. joins the South Korean National Defence Industry. |
1983 | Donga Motor Co. Buys the KORANDO trademark from Geohwa Co., Ltd |
1984 | Donga Motor Co. buys Geohwa Co., Ltd |
1986 | Korando (standing for KORea cAN DO) Family model rates among the world's best off-road automobiles. Export of KORANDO models to Japan commences. |

1988 | The Company is renamed SsangYong Motor Co and all its automobiles are now produced under the SsangYong brand. The Company buys the British Panther company. |
1991 | The Company launches a two-seat roadster Kallista. |

1992 | A co-operation agreement is signed with Mercedes Benz AG. |
1993 | Resulting from the co-operation, Mercedes Benz decides to become a shareholder of SsangYong Motor Co. The Musso off-road automobiles launched fitted with an engine licensed by Mercedes Benz. |

1994 | TRANSSTAR – a new bus model – is launched. A new motor facility in Changwon started operation. |
1995 | Manufacture of the Istana compact buses for export to Europe. |

1996 | SsangYong Motor Co is the first automobile manufacturer in Korea whose quality is certified to ISO standards. A new model KORANDO NEW is launched. |

1997 | Launch of CHAIRMAN – an upmarket deluxe limousine based on Mercedes Benz. |
2000 | Korando brand wins Energy Winner award. |
2001 | Premium-class off-road Rexton automobile becomes the company's flagship in its series. bringing the Company to a new level in Europe. Changwon plant produces its 500,000th engine. |
2002 | Sports pickup Musso Sports launched. |
2003 | The ‘family’ is updated, New Chairman and New Rexton launched. A new model - SsangYong Rodius - is launched. |
2004 | An 11-seat minivan developed on the basis of the new model, under the same SsangYong Rodius name. |
2005 | A new model – Kyron – is presented. |
2006 | A new crossover Actyon is launched, targeted at a younger market, preserving the principal SsangYong features, ie full transmission and one-piece frame construction. |
2007 | A new pickup Actyon Sports (Sport Utility Truck) is presented developed on the basis of Actyon. Restyled Kyron, Rexton, and Rodius are presented. SsangYong WZ Concept is displays at the Automobile Shows in Korea and Frankfurt. This vehicle features a V6 365hp 3.6–litre engine. Appearance of first production models replacing the Chairman model is planned for 2011. |

2008 | SsangYong C200 Concept, styled by ItalDesign studio, presented at the Automobile Show in Paris. |

2009 | A production version of C200 Aero is displayed at the Automobile Show in Barcelona. This vehicle comes with full transmission and a 175 hp 2.0-litre diesel engine/petrol 1,8-litre turbo-engine, and, featuring a larger, 2,640mm wheelbase and complying with Euro-5 requirements, has already been hailed as a competitor to KIA Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, and Nissan Qashqai. The first sales are planned for the end of 2009/begnning of 2010. |
